Nature Park and Fireflies Extraordinaire

NATURE PARK & FIREFLY EXTRAORDINAIRE
SIC Departure: Daily
Minimum: 02 paxs

The rural road through palm oil plantations and villages leads to Kuala Selangor. This small coastal town is synonymous with fresh seafood and the natural display of fireflies. These luminescent-winged beetles commonly known as ‘lighting bugs,’ are famous for their yellow-green intermittent twinkling glow. These nocturnal insects thrive in both warm environments and temperate regions. In Kuala Selangor, the fireflies are found living in mangrove forests lining the Selangor River. Each blink is an optical signal that helps fireflies find their potential mate as well as acting as a defense mechanism. There are estimated to be about 2,000 types of different firefly species and each pattern of flashes is unique to each species. After a delicious seafood dinner, visitors will ride in small boats along the river to take in this natural spectacle.

Highlights:
